I’m Laura Ellis, CPO® (that means Certified Professional Organizer). I grew up in New Jersey + New York but have lived in LA since 2000. Organizing makes me happy, always has. Along the way, I’ve discovered that not everyone feels that way. When I worked as an Exec Assistant for CEO’s in NYC, it was my job to keep those top dogs prepared and functioning at peak performance. And organizing their spaces helped me do that.
Then my friends and family always asked me to help them fix their overwhelm. So I did. I empathized because for most, it’s daunting to tackle a cluttered room alone! But for me, it’s like solving the most satisfying puzzle. When I realized how much I loved it, and discovered Professional Organizing was a thing, the light switched was flipped and I was like…sign me up for that!
Organized by Ellis is born out of a genuine love for helping people get more out of life. In 2012, timing and opportunity aligned, (secret code for – I got laid off) and just knew it was the right time to start my company.
I want to help you have a happier, simplified life. That’s me and this is OBE.
For the last 5 years, I’ve proudly served on the Board of Directors at NAPO-LA (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals) here in Los Angeles. Anyone considering this career should check them out.
To get formal training, and street cred, I…signed up for any and every webinar + seminar I could get my hands on. And worked with clients…eventually earning my CPO credential. Education is super important. I still geek out on all things organizing!
